Influenced by daily life and its sub-disciplined, art has transformed itself over the years. Especially, painting, sculpture, music, theatre, literature and dance have impacted on one another through new rules and styles. This influence has brought about such art movements as romantism, naturalism, realism, impressionism, futurism, fauvism expressionism and Dadaism, all of which have stemmed from the notions spearheaded by certain artists or critics. What aristocracy thought about art was rather important as it was these rich people who appreciated art and artists. Unlike this situation, hip-hop has been the only artistic culture that thrived among common people in the streets. It involves breakdance, graffiti, rap music and being a DJ, all of which are pillars of hip-hop. This study aims to explore the relationship between rap and graffiti, two of the main components of hip-hop culture. The reflections of rap and graffiti and rap in today’s art movements and their influence on other disciplines of art are the main focus to be analyzed in this study. Sanat, oluşum ve gelişim sürecinde günlük yaşamdan ve kendi alt disiplinlerinin kurallarından etkilenerek günümüze kadar değişim gösterdi. Özellikle resim, heykel, müzik, tiyatro, edebiyat, dans...vs gibi alt disiplinler yeni kurallarla farklı yöntemler geliştirerek birbirlerini etkilediler. Bu etkilenme hızla diğer alt disiplinleri de etkileyerek romantizm, natüralizm, realizm, empresyonizm, post empresyonizm, fütürizm, fovizm ve ekspresyonizm, Dadaizm gibi akımların oluşumuna neden oldu. Sanat akımlarının gelişimi genellikle bir sanatçının ya da bir eleştirmenin ortaya attığı bir düşünceden yola çıkmış ve yine sanat camiasının yön vermesiyle şekillenmiştir. Sanat akımlarında aristokrat tabakanın (sanatçılar ve sanatsever olan aristokratlar)eleştirisi önemliydi çünkü sanatı, geliri yüksek halk tabakası sever ve takip ederdi. Bu tarihsel gelişimde halkın alt tabakası tarafından ortaya çıkan ve yine onların yaşadığı merkezlerde gelişen tek sanat akımı Hiphop kültürüdür. Bu kültür hem bir sanat anlayışı hem de bir yaşam biçimi olarak ortaya çıkıp, hızla dünyaya yayılabilen tek sanat akımıdır. Hiphop; breakdans, grafiti, rap ve Dj’liği kapsayan kültürün adıdır. Hiphopun altındaki dört özellik kültürün dört temel taşıdır ve birbirini etkileyerek gelişmesini sağlamıştır. Bu araştırma da hiphop kültürünün temelini oluşturan dört özelliğinden rap ile grafitinin etkileşimi incelenmektedir. Müzik ve resim sanatının birer temsili olan rap müziği ve grafiti sanatının gelişiminde etkileşiminin günümüze yansımaları ve diğer sanat disiplinlerine etkileri incelenmiştir.
